A/Prof Devang Desai

Meet A/Prof Devang Desai

Dr. Devang Desai is a well-respected urologist and has performed over 500 urethral reconstructions. He travels around Australia as well as overseas to assist with urethral reconstruction surgery. 

Dr. Desai has also completed sub-specialty training in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic & robotic surgery for urological cancers.

Dr. Desai holds an Associate Professor role with University of Queensland, Griffith University and University of Southern Queensland. He has publications in various international journals and enjoys sharing this knowledge with medical students and nursing colleagues. He regularly presents his work at international conferences and runs educational workshops.

He has completed a Genitourinary Reconstructive Urology fellowship recognised by the American Urology Association (AUA) and Genitourinary Reconstructive Urology Society (GURS) with the world-renowned expert Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni. He has published several research papers along with gaining experience and expertise in reconstructive urology. This involved treating patients with stricture urethra due to a variety of causes such as lichen sclerosis, trauma, infection, instrumentation, radiation and pelvic fracture. He can provide care for patients with urethral stricture disease, pelvic fracture and those who need complex urethroplasty and prosthesis (penile implant and artificial urinary sphincter) surgery.
