Treating pelviureteric junction obstruction, kidney cancer and prostate cancer

INFORMATION

Our specialists perform advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery to treat urological
conditions such as pelviureteric junction obstruction, kidney cancer & prostate cancer.
Robotic surgery is performed using the DaVinci Robotic system. These procedures
shall be performed at St Andrew’s Hospital.

We offer the procedures listed below:

  • Laparoscopic varicocele surgery
  • Laparoscopic pyeloplasty
  • Laparoscopic / Robotic radical nephrectomy (removal of whole kidney)
  • Laparoscopic / Robotic partial nephrectomy (removal of part of a kidney)
  • Robotic Radical prostatectomy

FAQs

Traditional surgery is performed using an open incision (cut). Minimally invasive surgery involves making small incisions and using technology such as laparoscopic surgery or DaVinci Robotic technology to perform the surgery.

  • Smaller incisions mean faster healing and recovery
  • Enhanced vision due to the magnification provided
  • Less risk of bleeding and hernia formationCertain surgeries still require an open incision.

Minimally invasive surgery requires expertise and appropriate training.
